Recently Mitt Romney has been criticizing President Obama about his foreign policies. Romney has accused Obama for apologizing for America to the World Leaders, which he hasn’t. And of course Romney and his advisers that are heavy with Bush Era Neocons are pushing this meme to take the heat off Romney for not releasing his tax and financial forms. Romney’s speech to the VFW in Reno, NV, was filled with Obama criticisms of his foreign policies. And all this just before Romney took off for his Foreign Policy trip to the UK, Poland and Israel.
Romney promised not to say anything against Obama and his policies while he was away and so far HE hasn’t but one of his backers gave an interview to a UK paper insinuating that Obama was not familiar with the Anglo-Saxon ways. Another way to make Obama seem foreign and not one of “them”.
Obama just doesn’t get ‘special’ Anglo-Saxon vibe: adviser
Today, in the UK, Romney stuck his own foot in his mouth with this:
US presidential hopeful backtracks on warning of ‘disconcerting’ signs for Games after light-hearted rebuke by David Cameron
Mitt Romney handed Barack Obama a priceless gift for the US presidential election campaign when the presumptive Republican nominee blundered on his first diplomatic outing by questioning whether London was capable of staging a successful Olympic Games.
In a move that astonished Downing Street, hours before it laid on a special reception for Romney at No 10 he told NBC there were “disconcerting” signs about the preparations for the Games.
One senior Whitehall source said: “What a total shocker. We are speechless.”
David Cameron wasted no time in rebuking Romney hours after his remarks were broadcast. On a visit to the Olympic Park, the prime minister said: “We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course it’s easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere.”
Cameron’s remarks were intended to be a light-hearted jibe at Romney, who used his famous management skills honed at Bain Capital to rescue the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Romney rowed back later after a 45-minute meeting in Downing Street where the prime minister expressed his unease about his remarks. “I am very delighted with the prospects of a highly successful Olympic Games. What I have seen shows imagination and forethought and a lot of organisation and [I] expect the Games to be highly successful,” he said. (more)
Not a good way to start a visit to one of our top allies, the UK. And he hasn’t even got to Israel, and I’m afraid of what he will say here to mess up diplomacy, and very conservative Poland, (gee wonder why he is going there?).
Remember when he said these things:
To answer the question in the picture box. NO! I do not want this man handling our Foreign Affairs. For more than just the reasons above. He and many of his backers would definitely get us into a War with Iran which, without diplomacy in that area could cause a bigger war. And the nuclear component scares me.
